Ramírez Powers Marlins to Victory with Three-Run Homer

Jun 21 2025

Agustín Ramírez launched a three-run homer, while Janson Junk delivered a solid five-inning performance, guiding the Miami Marlins to a 6-2 victory against the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.

In the third inning, Ramírez connected with a pitch from Braves starter Didier Fuentes, sending the ball 436 feet into left field. This blast not only increased the Marlins' lead to 4-1 but also marked Ramírez's 11th home run of the season, making him the team's leader in that category.

Junk, making his first start for the Marlins, showcased his skills by allowing just five hits and one run while striking out five batters. Remarkably, he did not issue any walks during his outing, improving his record to 2-0.

Miami's offense continued to build momentum when Eric Wagaman contributed a pinch-hit ground-rule double in the sixth inning. Ramírez added another run in the seventh, further solidifying the Marlins' advantage.

Fuentes, who was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett earlier that day, made his major league debut as the youngest active player and the youngest Braves starter since 1969. Having just turned 20 on June 17, he faced challenges on the mound, giving up six hits and four runs while striking out three over five innings.

In a notable moment, Marlins reliever Robinson Piña also made his MLB debut, taking over for Tyler Phillips in the eighth inning. Piña allowed a solo home run to Austin Riley, bringing the score to 6-2.

Ronald Acuña Jr. continued his impressive form, going 2 for 4 and extending his hitting streak at Miami's loanDepot park to nine games, dating back to October 2022. He also swiped his second base of the season.

Dane Myers made a spectacular defensive play in the fifth inning, robbing Marcell Ozuna of a home run. Myers leaped over the wall to catch a deep fly ball, turning what could have been a solo shot into a 406-foot double, leaving Ozuna stranded at second base.

Matt Olson kept his streak alive, extending his MLB-leading on-base streak to 21 consecutive games with an RBI single in the fourth inning.

The series continues with RHP Grant Holmes (3-6, 3.97) set to start for the Braves against Marlins RHP Eury Pérez (0-1, 6.43).
