"She Hulk" Bodybuilder Killed with Hammer, Husband Found Dead Amid Abuse Allegations

A Colombian bodybuilder, known as “She Hulk,” was discovered dead in her rental home in Malaga, Spain, after suffering fatal injuries from a hammer. Her husband, Jarrod Gelling, was found deceased in the bathroom with what authorities are calling “self-inflicted stab wounds.”

Zunilda Hoyos Mendez, 43, and Gelling, 46, had been vacationing in Spain for about a month following Gelling’s knee surgery. Family members revealed that Mendez had expressed concerns about Gelling's aggressive behavior over the past year and had plans to divorce him after their trip, which included a bodybuilding competition in Portugal.

“She was being abused and wanted a divorce,” Mendez’s family stated to local media. The couple’s bodies were discovered around 2 p.m. on Thursday, with Mendez showing clear signs of violence.

Spanish National Police indicated that Gelling’s death appeared to be a suicide, although an autopsy is pending to confirm the circumstances. Mendez’s family had not heard from her since Saturday, after the couple traveled from Dubai to southern Spain.

Mendez’s niece, Yuleydis, shared that her aunt intended to support Gelling during his recovery before heading to Portugal for the competition and returning to Colombia to finalize their divorce. “For my aunt, it was her last trip with him — a farewell,” Yuleydis explained. “She had made the decision to leave him due to his aggressive behavior.”

The couple had previously separated but reconciled in an attempt to resolve their issues, which ultimately persisted. Mendez was not only a bodybuilder but also had a significant following on OnlyFans, boasting over 100,000 subscribers.

Brandon Rey, Mendez’s coach, expressed his sorrow on social media, stating they were just weeks away from competing together. “I told you that you could possibly be in the top 10 in the world by the end of this year and I meant it,” he wrote. “Rest in paradise Amy.”

Rey further emphasized the seriousness of domestic violence, stating, “We were so close to the end, but the closest person to you ended it too soon.” The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing as authorities seek to uncover more details surrounding the events leading up to their deaths.
