Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens Shine at 2025 ESPY Awards

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens made a striking appearance at the 2025 ESPY Awards, turning heads on the red carpet.

The couple, who married in April 2023, arrived at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on July 16, where they were dressed impeccably for the occasion. Biles, 28, dazzled in a fitted purple gown that caught the light beautifully, while her hair flowed in a wavy lob. She completed her look with elegant dangly earrings and a sparkling diamond bracelet. Owens, 29, opted for a bold ensemble featuring black slacks and an open black shirt that revealed his bare chest, topped off with a chic white blazer.

As they posed for photographers, the couple shared affectionate kisses, showcasing their chemistry amidst the glamour of the event.

Biles is nominated for two awards: Best Athlete in Women’s Sports and Best Championship Performance for her remarkable showing at the 2024 Olympics in the women’s all-around gymnastics event.

Currently, the couple is enjoying the NFL offseason before Owens resumes his role as a safety for the Chicago Bears later this year. Following the conclusion of the previous season in February, they finally embarked on their long-awaited honeymoon to South Africa, a trip delayed for two years due to their demanding careers.

In addition to their travels, Biles and Owens have been navigating the process of moving into their dream home in Houston. In November 2024, Biles provided an update on their home construction, stating, “At this point, we’ve waited so long for it to be built, we’ll just wait until after the [NFL] season to move in.” She mentioned that they were adding features like a half-basketball court and an in-ground trampoline.

“We should be closing fairly soon. I go in two weeks to check on it again to see where we are. But we’re literally almost there,” she added.

Despite their busy schedules, Biles and Owens have made time for high-profile events, including appearances at the 2025 Kentucky Derby and the Met Gala in May. However, they briefly stepped back from public life following Biles’ involvement in a heated exchange with former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines regarding transgender athletes.

In June, Gaines sparked controversy by claiming that a Minnesota high school softball team’s star player was a boy. Biles responded on social media, urging support for the trans community and advocating for inclusivity in sports. Her comments led to a back-and-forth with Gaines, who accused Biles of body-shaming.

Ultimately, Biles issued a public apology via social media, expressing her belief in competitive equity and inclusivity while acknowledging the complexity of the issues at hand. “I truly don’t have the answers or solutions to these sensitive topics,” she wrote. “It starts with empathy and respect.”

Owens showed his support during this time by reposting Biles’ apology on Instagram, adding three heart emojis to convey his solidarity.

After taking a break from social media, Biles recently returned to share snapshots from her and Owens’ vacation in Belize, marking a joyful return to their public life.
