Skip Bayless Questions Aaron Rodgers' Marriage Announcement
Aaron Rodgers, fresh off a surprise wedding, found himself under scrutiny from sports commentator Skip Bayless, who wasted no time in expressing skepticism rather than congratulations.
On June 10, Bayless, 73, took to social media to suggest that Rodgers, 41, had ulterior motives for disclosing his marriage, which he claimed occurred “a couple months ago.”
“Aaron Rodgers wore a wedding ring to his first Steelers press conference because he wanted the media to know he had pulled one over on ’em — got married ‘a couple of months ago’ without anyone knowing,” Bayless posted on X. “Her identity remains a mystery.”
Bayless, known for his outspoken views during his tenure at various sports networks, added a jab: “Now if only he could still fool defenses.”
This criticism follows Rodgers' recent signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, which has been a focal point for Bayless. In a video shared on June 5, he expressed disbelief at the Steelers’ decision to sign the veteran quarterback. “The Pittsburgh Steelers actually did it? They’re actually going to sign washed-up, 41-year-old, finger-pointing, blame-defecting diva Aaron Rodgers? You’re kidding. I can’t believe it,” he exclaimed.
Bayless did not hold back, stating, “He’s done. When he came back last year, he was done. He hit the wall and then went over the cliff into quarterback retirement hell. He just can’t play anymore.”
Rodgers officially joined the Steelers on June 9 with a one-year contract valued at $13.65 million, which includes $5.85 million in performance incentives.

Having endured two tumultuous seasons with the New York Jets—one of which ended abruptly due to an ACL injury—Rodgers now steps into the role of starting quarterback for the Steelers as they prepare for the 2025 NFL season. Yet, Bayless contends that the team would have been better served by sticking with backup Mason Rudolph.
Bayless further predicted doom for the Steelers under Rodgers’ leadership: “This is going to be a disaster and Aaron Rodgers doesn’t care because he’s grifting now. He’s going to steal from the once mighty Steelers.”
During his initial press conference as a Steeler, Rodgers confirmed his marriage but chose not to disclose any details about his new wife, leaving fans and media alike in suspense.
