Trendon Watford Signs Two-Year Contract with Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers have finalized a two-year contract with forward Trendon Watford, valued at $5.3 million, as NBA free agency kicks off. This agreement was reported late Monday night.
Watford, who is 24 years old, has been with the Brooklyn Nets for the past two seasons after entering the league in the 2021-22 season. His performance during the 2024-25 season included participation in 44 games, six of which were as a starter, where he achieved a career-high average of 10.2 points per game. Additionally, he contributed 3.6 rebounds per game and maintained a shooting percentage of 33% from beyond the arc.
Initially going undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft, Watford began his professional career with the Portland Trail Blazers on a two-way contract. He spent two seasons in Portland before transitioning to Brooklyn.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Watford was recognized as a five-star recruit during his high school years and later played college basketball at Louisiana State University.
This year, the Sixers are expected to take a more measured approach in free agency following their acquisition of Paul George in 2024. They are also looking to retain guard Quentin Grimes, who is currently a restricted free agent. Meanwhile, Kelly Oubre Jr. has reportedly opted into his player option for the 2025-26 season.

Challenges may arise for Philadelphia in their efforts to re-sign forward Guerschon Yabusele, who is an unrestricted free agent.
In addition to these moves, last week the Sixers selected Baylor guard VJ Edgecombe and Auburn forward Johni Bromme during the 2025 NBA draft.
