Trump Attends FIFA Club World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium

Jul 13 2025

President Trump arrived at MetLife Stadium today to witness the FIFA Club World Cup final, a significant event that serves as a precursor to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

Traveling from his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, the president and First Lady Melania Trump made their way to East Rutherford, approximately 40 miles away, to attend the championship match featuring Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) at 3 p.m.

This visit coincides with the first anniversary of an assassination attempt he survived in Butler, Pennsylvania, during his campaign. While he did not publicly acknowledge the date, he participated in a pre-recorded interview with his daughter-in-law Lara Trump that aired on Fox News Channel Saturday night.

Since taking office this year, Mr. Trump has frequently attended sporting events across the country. His recent engagements include Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, the Daytona 500 in Florida, UFC events in Miami and Newark, and the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia.

His rapport with FIFA President Gianni Infantino is notable; Trump has expressed intentions to attend several matches during next year's World Cup. This relationship was further solidified last week when Infantino announced the opening of a FIFA office within Trump Tower in New York City, indicating a strengthening connection between the president and soccer's governing body.

Additionally, it is worth noting that the final match of the 2026 World Cup is also scheduled to take place at MetLife Stadium, underscoring the venue's significance in international soccer.
