Braves Defeat Giants, Marking Sixth Consecutive Loss for San Francisco
Rookie Drake Baldwin showcased his talent by driving in six runs as the Atlanta Braves triumphed over the San Francisco Giants 9-5 on Monday night, marking the Giants' sixth consecutive loss this season.
Baldwin's performance included three hits in five at-bats, along with two runs scored from the designated hitter position. Ronald Acuña Jr. contributed significantly, scoring three times and drawing three walks, while also hitting a double.
On the other side, Willy Adames stood out for the Giants, going 4 for 5 with a home run, two doubles, and two RBIs.
The Braves jumped to an early 5-1 lead in the first inning, capitalizing on a tumultuous start from Giants pitcher Hayden Birdsong (4-4), who failed to record an out. Birdsong walked the first three batters he faced, allowing Baldwin to clear the bases with a three-run double. Following this, Birdsong walked Ozzie Albies and hit Sean Murphy before being pulled from the game. His struggles included a wild pitch to Matt Olson and nearly hitting Acuña earlier in the inning.
Reliever Matt Gage entered the game and managed to strike out two batters but ultimately surrendered a two-run single to Nick Allen.
Braves pitcher Bryce Elder (4-6) faced challenges, allowing 11 base runners through eight hits and three walks. However, he limited the damage to just three runs over five innings, stranding seven runners and securing his second consecutive win.
The final four innings were covered by Aaron Bummer, Rafael Montero, and Enyel De Los Santos, who collectively allowed two runs.

Acuña delivered another highlight-reel moment on the basepaths during the fourth inning. After Baldwin hit what seemed like a routine single to center field, Acuña sprinted from first base, ignoring a stop sign at third, and managed to score just ahead of Adames' throw.
Following Baldwin's three-run double that gave Atlanta a 3-1 lead in the first inning, Allen's two-run single capped off a five-run first inning, solidifying Atlanta's control of the game.
Birdsong struggled significantly, throwing only 6 of his 25 pitches for strikes in the first inning. This outing marked the first time in his 37 career appearances that he did not record an out, adding to his recent woes with 17 walks over his last 13 innings.
Looking ahead, Braves right-hander Davis Daniel (0-0, 1.80) is set to face Giants right-hander Landen Roupp (4-4, 3.27) on Tuesday.
