The Golden State Valkyries will take the court against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever for the first time ever on Thursday night at Chase Center.
After a tough 80-71 loss to the Dallas Wings in Texas, the Valkyries (5-6) return home, looking to bounce back. Monique Billings led the team with a season-high 18 points, while Kayla Thornton contributed 17 points in the defeat.
On the other side, the Fever (8-4) come into this matchup fresh off a victory against the Connecticut Sun, a game that featured multiple altercations, three ejections, and scrutiny over officiating decisions.
During that contest, Clark faced a challenging moment when Jacy Sheldon struck her in the face, followed by a hard knockdown from Marina Mabrey. Both Clark and Mabrey received technical fouls, while Sheldon was penalized with a flagrant foul.
In preparation for Thursday's game, the Valkyries announced the signing of guard Bree Hall, who was selected by the Fever in this year's draft. Hall, a two-time NCAA champion with South Carolina, is expected to make her debut.
