Aug 03 2025

In a stunning display of shooting, Kayla McBride sank eight 3-pointers, propelling the Minnesota Lynx to a record-setting 111-58 victory over the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday. This win marks the largest margin of victory in WNBA history for a road game.

McBride's remarkable first half saw her make all eight of her attempts from beyond the arc, contributing to the Lynx's impressive team performance of 13 out of 14 from 3-point range. By halftime, Minnesota had established a commanding 67-33 lead.

This 53-point triumph eclipses the previous record set by the Houston Comets in 1998. Additionally, the Lynx set a franchise record with 17 successful 3-pointers out of 27 attempts throughout the game.

Despite her explosive start, McBride was unable to add to her tally in the second half, finishing with 24 points. Jessica Shepard also made a significant impact, recording 18 points and 14 rebounds, marking her fourth double-double of the season. MVP contender Napheesa Collier contributed another 18 points but exited late in the third quarter due to an ankle injury. Natisha Hiedeman rounded out the scoring with 17 points.

For the Aces, Jewell Loyd managed to score 12 points while reigning MVP A'ja Wilson added 10 points to the total. The Aces struggled to keep pace with the Lynx throughout the game.

The Lynx quickly established dominance, hitting four of five 3-pointers in the opening minutes to take an early 18-8 lead. They continued their hot shooting, finishing the first quarter with six of seven from deep, leading 35-17 as they entered the second quarter. At one point, Minnesota made nine consecutive 3-pointers, extending their lead to an insurmountable 67-33 by halftime and pushing it further to 92-49 by the end of the third quarter.

Looking ahead, the Aces will host Golden State on Sunday, while the Lynx are set to visit Seattle on Tuesday.
