Napheesa Collier Claims Second Player of the Week Award
Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier has been recognized once again, earning her second Western Conference Player of the Week award this season. This accolade further solidifies her status as a frontrunner for MVP honors.
In her latest two games, Collier showcased her skills by averaging 23 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2 steals, and 1.5 blocks, achieving double-doubles in both matchups. Her consistent performance has been pivotal for the Lynx.
At 28 years old, Collier previously received the Player of the Week title for the first four games of the season and was also named Player of the Month for May. Her impressive statistics place her at the top of the WNBA leaderboard this season, leading in points per game (25.5), steals per game (2.2), player efficiency rating (32.1), and win shares (2.4).
The Lynx are currently enjoying a perfect 9-0 start, mirroring their championship-winning season in 2017. Last year, Collier finished as the runner-up in MVP voting to A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces. With her current form, she is positioning herself as a strong candidate for her first MVP award.
Collier's accolades extend beyond individual awards; she was named to the All-WNBA First Team last year and earned the Defensive Player of the Year title during a challenging playoff run for the Lynx. Additionally, she contributed to Team USA's gold medal victory at the Summer Olympics.
Her offseason was equally impressive, as she was named MVP of Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 basketball league she co-founded. TIME magazine also recognized her as one of its 100 Most Influential People, highlighting her impact both on and off the court.
