NBC Unveils Countdown for Sunday Night Football with a Taylor Swift Twist
Football enthusiasts, mark your calendars. NBC has kicked off the anticipation for Sunday Night Football with a countdown reminiscent of Taylor Swift's album promotions.
“We’re back in our ✨ primetime era✨,” the network announced on Instagram, highlighting the excitement with a post that read, “13 days till the album drop… 0 days till SNF.”
The official @SNFonNBC account shared a vibrant orange graphic announcing the matchup: “9.21.25 Chiefs vs. Giants at 7:00 p.m. ET.” The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face off against the New York Giants in this highly anticipated game.
Swift fans quickly recognized the familiar aesthetic, paralleling her recent album countdowns for The Life of a Showgirl, which is set to release in under two weeks.
In an August episode of her now-fiancé Travis Kelce’s podcast, Swift confirmed her 12th album, inspired by her experiences during the Eras Tour. “I would do three shows in a row, [and then] I’d have three days off. I’d fly to Sweden, [then] go back to the tour,” she recounted, reflecting on the whirlwind of her schedule.
“I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating,” she added, expressing her passion for the new music. “I also know the pressure I’m putting on this record by saying that, but I don’t care ’cause I love it that much, and I’m so proud of it.”
Swift’s Eras Tour, running from March 2023 to December 2024, not only showcased her musical journey but also sparked her romance with Chiefs tight end Kelce.
After attending her concert in Kansas City last July, Kelce shared on his podcast his disappointment over missing a meet-and-greet with Swift, where he intended to present her with a friendship bracelet featuring his phone number. The pop star eventually responded to his podcast plea, leading to their private relationship.
Following their public debut at one of Kelce’s football games in September 2023, Swift began immersing herself in football culture to support him. “I fell in love with it, [and] I became obsessed with it,” she revealed on Kelce’s podcast last month. “I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!’ My friends were like, ‘Who body-snatched you? What do you mean, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy?’ I was freaking out.”
Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl will be available on Friday, October 3.
