Patrick Bailey's Key Triple Secures Giants' Victory Over White Sox
In a pivotal moment during Friday night’s game, Patrick Bailey delivered a two-run triple in the sixth inning, leading the San Francisco Giants to a 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox. This win marked a much-needed turnaround for the Giants, who had been struggling with a three-game losing streak.
Landon Roupp, improving his record to 6-5, secured his second consecutive win and third in four outings. He allowed just one unearned run and seven hits while striking out four and walking two over 5 1/3 innings of work.
Bailey's crucial hit came off reliever Tyler Alexander, slicing down the right-field line to break a 1-1 deadlock. Camilo Doval then took the mound in the ninth inning, successfully closing out the game for his 13th save of the season.
Prior to this victory, the Giants faced a tough week, having been swept at home by Miami. They entered this game on a 10-game road trip, having lost eight of their last eleven contests.
The White Sox, currently struggling at the bottom of the American League standings, have now dropped 12 of their last 15 games. They initially took the lead when Chase Meidroth scored due to a throwing error in the first inning. However, the Giants equalized in the third with an RBI double from Wilmer Flores.
Making his first home start since being traded from Milwaukee, White Sox right-hander Aaron Civale pitched four innings, giving up one run on three hits and four walks while striking out four batters.
Chicago had opportunities to extend their lead, loading the bases with one out in both the fourth and fifth innings but failed to capitalize. Roupp managed to escape the fourth inning by inducing a double play and followed up with a strikeout and an easy popup to end the fifth.
Continuing their struggles, the White Sox entered this matchup as the least effective team in Major League Baseball with runners in scoring position. They went just 1 for 8 in such situations against the Giants, bringing their season total to .210 (130 for 620).
As the series progresses, the Giants are set to face off against LHP Robbie Ray (8-2, 2.83 ERA) on Saturday, while RHP Adrian Houser (2-2, 2.27) will take the mound for Chicago.
