Jun 19 2025

Maikel Garcia's impressive performance propelled the Kansas City Royals to a 6-3 victory against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night. Garcia not only homered but also drove in four runs, showcasing his offensive prowess.

The highlight of the game came during a four-run third inning for Kansas City, where Garcia launched a three-run homer, marking his career-best eighth home run. He later added to his contributions with a triple that brought Bobby Witt Jr. home in the eighth inning.

Garcia's three hits matched his season high, while his four RBIs equaled a personal best, underscoring his critical role in the game.

With this win, the Royals have secured victories in the first two games of their three-game series against Texas, bouncing back from a challenging 0-6 homestand that tied their longest losing streak of the season.

Kris Bubic (6-4) earned his first win since May 19, pitching 5 1/3 innings and allowing nine hits and three runs. He threw a season-high 101 pitches during the outing.

In the ninth inning, Carlos Estévez delivered a flawless performance, securing his AL-best 20th save.

On the other side, Patrick Corbin (4-6) struggled for the Rangers, giving up four runs over five innings. This loss marked Texas's second consecutive defeat after a four-game winning streak.

The Rangers initially took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to Wyatt Langford's RBI double and Adolis García's run-scoring single. They managed to narrow the gap to 4-3 in the fifth with back-to-back doubles from Josh Jung and Jake Burger.

Sam Haggerty contributed significantly for Texas, recording three hits to match his career high.

Texas played without infielder Josh Smith for the second straight game due to a minor hamstring issue.

In a pivotal moment, Lucas Erceg, one of four relievers for Kansas City, forced Adolis García into a double play with runners on the corners, effectively ending the seventh inning.

Despite going 5 for 13 with runners in scoring position, Texas left nine players on base, highlighting missed opportunities throughout the game.

The Royals will aim for a series sweep on Thursday afternoon with right-hander Michael Wacha (3-6, 3.38 ERA) on the mound, while Texas plans to utilize a bullpen game.
