Travis Kelce Reflects on Wild Night at Tight End University

Jul 01 2025

Travis Kelce found himself in a bit of a bind after a night of revelry at Tight End University last week. The Kansas City Chiefs star attended the annual gathering in Nashville, where he was greeted by a surprise performance from his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, at the welcome party.

“I’m struggling out there Day 2,” Kelce admitted during an episode of the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast. “I am leaking Bud Lights. I am just trying to figure out how I am going to explain a route concept. I pull up absolutely s***-faced from the night before.”

Upon arriving, Kelce was quickly reminded of his responsibilities by former Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen, who co-founded Tight End U alongside Kelce and San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle. “Greg comes up to me and he’s like, ‘Alright, Travis. You’ve got 30 minutes,’” Kelce recalled, initially confused about what he was supposed to do.

Despite his condition, Kelce managed to navigate through his on-field mentoring session and shared some memorable moments from the fifth annual Tight End U event. “A lot of the tight ends are like, ‘Whatever you need, I’m here for the good time. I’m one of the hardest workers, but at the same time, I’m here to have some f***ing fun,’” he noted.

Kelce recognized that the weekend has shifted focus away from football, yet he expressed excitement about seeing 80 tight ends from across the NFL come together. “It blows my f***in’ mind,” he said. “Sure enough, when you’re getting starting tight ends from all over the place, it feels like it’s an all-star atmosphere.”

He likened the gathering to an all-star weekend or Pro Bowl atmosphere, emphasizing its significance as one of his favorite pre-season events. “S***’s fun,” he added, highlighting the relaxed vibe that permeates Tight End U.

This celebratory atmosphere serves as a reminder for Kelce and his peers about their love for football amidst the pressures of the sport. “It’s reassuring,” he stated. “Because the s*** in the building can get so tedious and focused and so serious.”

Kelce concluded by noting that despite the ups and downs players face, it’s essential to remember that they can still enjoy themselves while pursuing their passion for the game.
