Travis Kelce Returns to Practice Following Engagement Announcement

Aug 26 2025

Travis Kelce hit the practice field on August 26, mere hours after he and Taylor Swift shared their engagement news. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, donned his helmet and shoulder pads, diving straight into drills as the team gears up for the NFL regular season.

In a video posted by a local news outlet, Kelce was seen interacting with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, showcasing a seamless blend of personal joy and professional commitment. The Chiefs are set to kick off their season against the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil, on September 5.

Swift and Kelce took to Instagram to announce their engagement, posting a series of photos from the proposal. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” they captioned the post, adding a playful touch to their significant milestone.

Mahomes, 29, quickly reacted to the news, sharing an engagement photo of the couple on his Instagram Story adorned with three red-heart emojis. His wife, Brittany Mahomes, also chimed in shortly after, expressing her happiness for the couple. “Two of the most genuine people meet & fall in love,” she wrote. “Just so happy for these two.”

As news of the engagement spread through the Chiefs’ practice facility, defensive end Mike Danna shared his excitement with reporters. “I just got told 30 seconds ago,” he said at a press conference. “I’m so happy for them—Trav, Taylor, that’s a wonderful time in their life.”

Danna humorously mentioned his plans to celebrate the engagement, suggesting he might return a favor to Swift with a gift. “I’ll think of a good little engagement gift,” he quipped. “Maybe some Pop-Tarts back to her. It won’t be homemade.”

The mention of Pop-Tarts sparked memories within the Chiefs organization, as Swift had previously baked them for the team’s offensive line. Head coach Andy Reid humorously noted last year that he didn’t receive one himself. “She didn’t give me one, and the offensive linemen definitely didn’t give me one,” Reid joked.

The popularity of Swift’s Pop-Tarts reached such heights that defensive lineman Chris Jones even asked for her recipe. “You know what, shout-out to Tay Tay,” he remarked earlier this year. “Her Pop-Tarts are amazing.” He continued, “I was asking Trav [Kelce] because I don’t know how she gets the crust of the Pop-Tarts so fire.”

As Kelce balances his personal life with his professional commitments, the excitement surrounding his engagement continues to resonate within the Chiefs community.
