Ed Kelce Discusses Wedding Preparations for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift
Ed Kelce, father of NFL star Travis Kelce, is gearing up for what many are calling the wedding of the century. The excitement surrounding the union of Travis and pop sensation Taylor Swift has captured the public's imagination.
“I think we’re as prepared as we can be for something like this,” Ed, 74, remarked during an interview with a local news outlet on August 26, shortly after the couple announced their engagement. Both Travis and Swift are 35 years old and have garnered immense success in their respective fields.
During the conversation, the interviewer likened the anticipated nuptials to a “royal wedding.” However, Ed emphasized that despite their fame, Travis and Swift remain grounded. “I kind of look at it the same way that I’m sure the Swifts do; this is still the little kid they raised at home,” he explained. “Yes, they’ve both had a lot of success in their endeavors, and they get a lot of notoriety and a lot of attention, but they’re still the same people that we raised. It just makes you feel good to see a couple this much in love.”
When asked about the rehearsal dinner expenses, Ed chuckled and said, “I think he’ll help me out on that one.” This light-hearted exchange highlighted the familial bond and humor shared between father and son.
In another part of the interview, Ed recounted how Travis and Taylor broke the news of their engagement to him and his ex-wife, Donna. “They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great,” he shared.
He continued, recalling a recent experience at a Philadelphia Eagles practice attended by 60,000 fans. “As soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him. I knew what they were going to say, and they let us know.”
The couple made their engagement public through a joint Instagram post featuring a series of images capturing the moment Travis proposed with a ring designed by Kindred Lubeck at Artifex Fine Jewelry. Their playful caption read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
