Lynx Secure Spot in Commissioner's Cup Final with Victory Over Aces
Courtney Williams ignited the Minnesota Lynx's offense, scoring 18 of her 20 points in the second half, leading the team to a 76-62 victory against the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday night. This win secures the Lynx a place in the Commissioner's Cup final, despite the early exit of Napheesa Collier due to a back injury in the third quarter.
The Lynx, who claimed the Commissioner's Cup title last year, are set to host the Indiana Fever on July 1. This matchup, while not affecting standings, offers players a financial incentive.
Even without their star player A'ja Wilson for the third consecutive game, the Aces managed to build a 14-point lead and held a 39-30 advantage at halftime. This marked Minnesota's lowest scoring half of the season.
Collier, who was a runner-up for MVP last season, scored seven points before leaving the game at 7:57 in the third quarter. Alanna Smith stepped up in her absence, contributing 10 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
Key contributions came from reserves Diamond Miller and Natisha Hiedeman, each adding 12 points for the Lynx (11-1). Williams also showcased her versatility with five assists, four rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.

For Las Vegas (5-6), Jewell Loyd scored 12 points while Tiffany Mitchell chipped in with 10. However, the Aces struggled with ball control, finishing with 21 turnovers that led to 27 points for Minnesota.
Smith's layup at 4:14 in the third quarter marked the Lynx's first lead of the game at 45-43. She followed up with another layup, extending the lead to 56-52 as they entered the final quarter.
The Aces' shooting woes continued as they went just 6 for 18 from the field during a critical stretch, allowing a four-point deficit to swell to 16.
