Machine Gun Kelly Reflects on Super Bowl Encounter with Taylor Swift
Machine Gun Kelly found himself in a prime location during Super Bowl LIX, where the Philadelphia Eagles faced off against the Kansas City Chiefs. The event unfolded at the Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans, and Kelly was nestled in the suite of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, sharing the space with Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
During an appearance on ABC News Live on August 6, Kelly recounted the atmosphere of that day, particularly his conversation with Swift about attending the Chiefs’ afterparty, where he was scheduled to perform. “I was in Travis’ suite, and at the beginning of it, Taylor was like, ‘Hell yeah, we’re gonna come watch you perform,’” he recalled, excitement evident in his voice.
However, as the game progressed, the mood shifted dramatically. The Eagles dominated the first half, leading 24-0, leaving little hope for a Chiefs comeback. “By the third quarter, dude, I was looking at that score,” Kelly said. “I went up to Taylor, I was like, ‘Y’all aren’t coming tonight, huh?’”
Swift’s response was candid: “I don’t think so man,” she told him. “I’ll see if I can get him to get out, but I don’t think [so].” Ultimately, neither Swift nor Kelce made it to the afterparty.
Despite the disappointing outcome for the Chiefs, Kelly took the stage to perform for a handful of disheartened Kansas City players. “Don’t ever sign yourself up for that,” he joked about the experience. “Wait to sign the paper until you find out, until [the] third quarter or something.”

Travis Kelce’s brother, Jason, who played for the Eagles from 2011 to 2023, has previously described Super Bowl afterparties as a mix of celebration and mourning. He once referred to them as a “birthday party combined with a funeral” for the losing team. “It’s the saddest party you’ve ever been to,” he remarked on his podcast “New Heights,” which he co-hosts with Travis.
Machine Gun Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, shares a long-standing friendship with Travis Kelce, both hailing from Cleveland. “That’s my dawg,” he expressed. “He’s from Cleveland. He’s from right next to where I’m from.”
Travis confirmed their close ties during a 2023 announcement for his Kelce Jam festival, noting that they grew up “right down the street from each other.” He added, “I knew of Cols growing up. But for the most part, I’ve just been a big fan of his through high school, through college. Being able to see his success has been really cool knowing that we’re from the same area.”
