Twins Triumph Over Royals 9-4, Marking Third Consecutive Victory

Aug 09 2025

On Friday night, the Minnesota Twins showcased their offensive prowess, defeating the Kansas City Royals 9-4. Kody Clemens and Matt Wallner each launched home runs, while Ryan Jeffers contributed significantly with three hits and two RBIs.

Rookie Luke Keaschall continued to impress, adding two singles and two RBIs to his tally. Since returning from a three-month injury hiatus due to a broken right forearm, he has accumulated six hits and eight RBIs over just three games.

Joe Ryan, the Twins' starting pitcher, delivered a solid performance, allowing only one run on four hits across five innings. He struck out five batters and did not issue any walks, improving his record to 11-5. This victory marks the Twins' third consecutive win.

The Royals, on the other hand, struggled offensively despite Mike Yastrzemski and Bobby Witt Jr. hitting home runs. This loss adds to their recent woes, as they have now dropped three of their last four games.

Twins' starter Seth Lugo faced challenges early on, as the Twins capitalized on his pitching, scoring multiple runs in three of the four innings he pitched. Keaschall's RBI singles in both the first and second innings helped establish a 5-1 lead for Minnesota, with Jeffers also contributing an RBI single in the second.

Clemens set a personal milestone with his 13th home run, a two-run blast in the fourth inning that further extended the Twins' lead.

After Yastrzemski opened the game with a leadoff homer for the Royals, Wallner quickly responded by sending a sinker into the bullpens in left-center, tying the game at one run apiece.

Ryan's dominance against the Royals is noteworthy; he remains undefeated at 8-0 with an impressive 1.34 ERA in ten career starts against them.

Looking ahead, LHP Noah Cameron (5-5, 2.68 ERA) is set to take the mound for the Royals in Saturday's matchup against RHP Bailey Ober (4-6, 5.38) as the series continues.
