On Friday night, the Cleveland Guardians secured a 3-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers, showcasing a blend of solid pitching and effective hitting. Slade Cecconi, making his second start of the season, allowed one run and five hits across six innings, striking out six while walking two.

In the first inning, José Ramírez set the tone for Cleveland with a triple that drove in the first run, following Steven Kwan's leadoff double. Carlos Santana then contributed with a two-out RBI single, pushing the Guardians ahead 2-0 early in the game.

Despite the early deficit, the Tigers managed to break through in the sixth inning when Spencer Torkelson hit his 13th home run, ending a scoreless streak of 14 1/3 innings for the Guardians against Detroit in this series.

Jackson Jobe, who took the mound for the Tigers, faced challenges of his own. He recorded his first career loss after giving up two runs on four hits and two walks over five innings. Notably, Jobe had previously won his first eight starts, marking a franchise record for the Tigers.

As the game progressed, Bo Naylor led off the ninth inning with a triple, setting up Kwan for an RBI single that extended Cleveland's lead to 3-1. The Guardians' pitching staff continued to shine, with Hunter Gaddis contributing two scoreless innings and Emmanuel Clase closing out the game with a perfect ninth for his tenth save.

The Tigers had a chance to capitalize in the fourth inning with runners on the corners and one out. However, Cecconi managed to induce a flyout from Andy Ibáñez and a groundout from Akil Baddoo, thwarting Detroit's scoring opportunity.

Looking ahead, Guardians' right-hander Luis Ortiz (2-5, 4.66 ERA) is slated to face off against Detroit's Casey Mize (6-1, 2.53) on Saturday. Mize is expected to return from a hamstring strain, adding intrigue to the upcoming matchup.
