Giants Overcome 5-Run Deficit to Edge Padres
In a remarkable comeback, Heliot Ramos delivered a two-run double in the seventh inning, tying the game for the San Francisco Giants. Jung Hoo Lee followed with a sacrifice fly, propelling the Giants to a 6-5 victory over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.
This win marked the end of a challenging stretch for San Francisco, which had struggled to score more than four runs in 16 consecutive games.
San Diego initially took control with Gavin Sheets hitting a two-run triple in the first inning, later adding two more runs with a single in the fifth. The Padres had entered the game with momentum, having secured two 10-inning victories earlier in the series.
As the ninth inning unfolded, Fernando Tatis Jr. opened with a single against Ryan Walker. Right fielder Daniel Johnson made a crucial play, catching Luis Arráez's fly ball to prevent an extra-base hit. Manny Machado then added a single, but Randy Rodríguez came in to secure the final two outs, earning his first career save.
Matt Chapman contributed significantly with a two-run homer in the sixth inning off right-hander Nick Pivetta, who struck out five batters over six innings but allowed five runs on six hits.
Pivetta's outing ended after he walked Willy Adames to start the seventh and allowed a single to Daniel Johnson. Following Patrick Bailey's strikeout, Tyler Fitzgerald loaded the bases for Ramos, setting the stage for the pivotal moment of the game.

Sean Hjelle, making his season debut after being recalled from the minors, pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win.
Sheets' second hit led to Giants lefty Kyle Harrison exiting the game after being struck on the pitching elbow by a comebacker. Fortunately, X-rays revealed no damage, and he is expected to make at least one more start before Justin Verlander returns from injury.
The Giants' streak of 16 games scoring four or fewer runs is notable, ranking as their second longest since relocating to San Francisco in 1958; they previously endured a 19-game stretch in 1965.
Looking ahead, RHP Dylan Cease (1-4, 4.66 ERA) is set to pitch for San Diego in the series finale against Giants LHP Robbie Ray (7-1, 2.43).
